The Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart System and Emerging Technologies – RISE ( is a newly founded research centre of excellence in Nicosia, Cyprus. RISE is a significant investment supported by the European Commission, the Republic of Cyprus and its founding Partners, the Municipality of Nicosia, Max Planck, University College London, the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Open University of Cyprus.

The Centre will conduct excellent, internationally competitive scientific research in the areas of visual sciences, human factors and design, communication, and artificial intelligence delivered by high-calibre multidisciplinary research teams. RISE will engage in knowledge transfer and innovation activities aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and STEM-led innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Centre is seeking an Accounting and Procurement Officer to join its fast-growing team of passionate and enthusiastic professionals.


Main responsibilities include:

  • Maintain proper books and records
  • Ensure that all financial information is recorded in a complete, accurate and timely manner
  • Conduct bank/creditors reconciliation
  • Complete VAT returns
  • Handle the procurement process and ensure that all purchasing activities comply with relevant policies and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing
  • Collaborate with key persons to collect necessary information and ensure clarity of the specifications
  • Handle the communication with suppliers and external vendors
  • Liaise closely with external associates such as advisors, auditors, banks, etc.
Profile of the ideal candidate
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in a position with similar responsibilities including experience in procurement
  • Experience in financial management and reporting for EC Horizon 2020 grants will be considered an advantage
  • Self-motivated with an ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Very good analytical skills coupled with attention to detail
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Computer literate
  • Very good knowledge of both English and Greek
  • For non EU applicants a work permit will required
